Scribes of Old
The word "Sofer" has origins dating back some three to four thousand years. A "sofer" was a scribe, or someone who wrote things down for their community. The tools of his trade we animal skins, clay tablets, broken pot shards or solid rock. They recorded anything of importance from the laws of the land, sacred texts, history of the people and business transactions
Today we use ball point pens, word processors, spreadsheets, databases, webpages and email to record and store our important information. Whilst these are great resources, they have the tendency to be a little less reliable and slightly more complicated than old fashioned animal skins and pot shards!
